Internal Security
| Wether a frustrated co-worker, who did not get his raise of salary, or a workmate, who deleted all customer data out of ignorance - internal security can not be valued high enough. The follwing weak points cann lead to a partial or total brakdown of your companies working ability: - missing or unchecked backup
- missing authentification
- no assignment of access areas for groups of co-workers
- open, unsecured data lines (WLAN)

| | The Internet is an open network, which neither has a central administration nor is based on terms and regulations. But also the incompleteness of several legislations again and again enable malicious attacks from the Internet. In the process the following methods are used: - attecks to computers
- viruses, worms and trojans
- dialer
- SPAM
An attack on one or several computers usually happens via: - open ports on computers in the internet
- security holes or errors in programms and operating systems
- external open gateways (i.e. ISDN or modem)
- unsecured data transfer (WLAN, wireless keyboard)
Here protects you amongst others a correctly configurated and maintained firewall. Viruses, worms and trojans are attacks, that act not directly from a computer but do damage to your EDP or spy your data via an intermediary. Usually a programm is stored and stared on your computer via email.
As a selective measure against this serves a virus protection aolution that works on several places simultaneously and enables a multi-stage protection of your data. Dialer are programms, which die settle the dial in to the internet with high prices. In doing so costs of more then 100€ are not veryy uncommon. Some virus scanners may help here but it is better to avoid websites from dubious sources. SPAM are e-mails with different contents that are constantly flooding your in-box and mostly contain advertisments for divers products.
SPAM does no direct harm to your EDP but causes the waste of valuable working time and the oversight of important e-mails. A good SPAM-Filter, which seperates the wheat from the chaff for you, shoul help here. | |
